A Cessnock prison officer has been arrested for allegedly attempting to smuggle drugs into the prison.

Police attended the centre and questioned the officer concerned on Friday.

The officer has allegedly admitted to bringing packages into the prison, but was unaware of what was inside them.

It’s also alleged that the officer was paid $10,000 per delivery.
