Cory Bernadi slams new move to make nurses acknowledge their whiteness
Nurses are being told to acknowledge white privilege when treating indigenous patients.
The Nursing and Midwifery Board says the cultural safety of patients is just as important as their clinical safety.
Senator Cory Bernardi has slammed the move, labelling it as “another virtue signal”.
“We seem to have lost the capacity for common sense and inherent decency in how we treat each other.
“This is just another example of where PC and this identity politics has captured the professional class or the political class.”
He says anyone who’s ever been in a birthing suite knows the proposal is “nonsensical”.
“I can’t recall one complaint that white privilege hasn’t been acknowledged during the birth process.”
