Cricket and soccer superstar speaks with Ross Greenwood

Article image for Cricket and soccer superstar speaks with Ross Greenwood

This summer has been the most significant season in women’s cricket.

They retained The Ashes after the series with England ended in a draw, and the breakout star of that series is without a doubt, Ellyse Perry.

She’s been called Australia’s most marketable athlete and this year was awarded the inaugural Rachel Heyhoe Flint Award for the International Cricket Council’s Cricketer of the Year.

Perry has juggled representing Australia in cricket with representing the Aussies in soccer by playing for the Matildas.

She joins Ross Greenwood to share the highlights of her career and her departure from the soccer field.

“I think it sort of got to a position where playing internationally at that level you can really only play one sport.

“If you’re playing [cricket] in Australia, that’s probably the leading sport at the moment.”
