Criminal on parole punches police officer in the head, Bondi
A young man, already out on parole, has been arrested after allegedly punching a police officer in the head at Bondi yesterday.
At about 2.30pm, undercover officers were patrolling on Oxford Street at Bondi Junction when they approached three men acting suspiciously outside a pub.
When they identified themselves as police, two of the men ran off and a chase ensued.
Officers caught one of the men a short distance away.
The second, a 24-year-old, came back to help his friend, punching the officer in the side of his head.
The Constable tried to block the hit and injured his thumb, with both men fleeing the scene.
Officers managed to identify the 24-year-old, learning he was out on parole and had recently had a warrant issued for it to be revoked.
The tracked him down by 7.30pm the same day, arresting him at a different pub in Bondi Junction.
He’s been charged with assaulting a police officer causing actual bodily harm, obstructing police and revocation of parole and been refused bail to face court today.
