Cut costs in half: Dubbo to trial 3D printed homes
A western NSW council will trial 3D printed homes in an attempt to overcome Australia’s worker and material shortages.
Houses are being 3D printed internationally in the US, Italy and the Netherlands.
In January, Australia’s first 3D-printed house was made in Melbourne.
Dubbo Councillor Matt Wright told Deborah Knight materials such as concrete and clay would be perfect for the project.
“We still need traditional tradespeople internally, so we’re not putting people out of jobs per se.”
Mr Wright says it could half the cost of building a home.
