Deadly asbestos dumped on suburban street
Police are searching for a tipper truck driver who allegedly dumped a load of asbestos-contaminated waste on a suburban road in Sydney’s south-west.
It’s believed the potentially deadly material was left at the end of a cul-de-sac on Hillside Avenue at Clemton Park just before 6pm last night.
Police cordoned off the roadway while firefighters were called in to spray the pile with a sealing agent and cover it with plastic.
The Environment Protection Authority and police are now investigating, with charges expected to be laid shortly.
The public can report illegal dumping to the EPA’s 24/7 Environment Line on 131 555.
