Deal broken, lawyers called in: Peter V’landys slams Dominic Perrottet
Rugby League Commission Chairman Peter V’landys says “it’s very disappointing” that the NSW Government is reneging on its promise to revamp suburban football grounds.
The NRL could now take the state government to court.
It had said the Sydney Grand Final was conditional on an upgrade to Brookvale oval, Shark Park and Leichhardt oval.
Mr V’landys says Dominic Perrottet’s claim that the money is needed for flood recovery is an “appalling” excuse to renege on an agreement.
The ARLC Chairman told Ben Fordham “this is about the fourth or fifth excuse that has been given to us”.
“When you do a deal and you shake someone’s hand, you honour that agreement.
“They’ve left it right until we have to sell the Grand Final tickets to weasel their way out of it.”
Mr V’landys has relayed a promise from the Premier where he assured him: “Trust me, I will honour the deal.”

The ARLC Chairman says it’s “unfair” Sports Minister Stuart Ayres managed to secure a $300 million stadium redevelopment in his electorate of Penrith, while ignoring the others.
