Senator Jim Molan supports Defence Force deployment to help NSW firefighters
Additional Defence Force resources are being deployed to assist with firefighting efforts in New South Wales.
The NSW government has requested Defence Liaison Officers be placed in 14 fire control centres across the state to help co-ordinate support and equipment.
Retired major-general Jim Molan tells Natalie Peters and Erin Molan the involvement of the Defence has been increased as bushfires rage on.
“It’s something that the Defence Force has been doing forever.”

Minister for Natural Disaster and Emergency Management David Littleproud tells John Stanley the Defence Force’s presence needs to be felt in danger areas.
“That people on the ground, that are facing these fires, do see Defence Force personnel there.
“They’re not trained to be on the frontline with the fires but they can do a lot of the heavy lifting.”
