Deputy Liberal Leader calls on PM to act after Bali bombings shock move
Deputy Liberal Leader Sussan Ley is calling on the Prime Minister to intervene over the early release of a man involved in the Bali bombings.
Umar Patek assembled a bomb that ripped through the Sari Club and Paddy’s Pub in Kuta, killing more than 200 people, including 88 Australians.
He was sentenced to 20 years in prison in Indonesia but has only served 10.
Deputy Liberal Leader Sussan Ley has told Ben Fordham the Prime Minister needs to have a “firm” conversation with his Indonesian counterpart.
“He needs to pick up the phone … to say ‘we’re not happy, we don’t like it and we don’t accept it’.”
