Developer of Voice to Parliament believes body will ‘close the gap’
Australians are backing the idea of an Indigenous Voice to Parliament.
A survey published in the Sydney Morning Herald, found that 64 per cent of people are in favour of draft wording to give First Nations people a more powerful say in national affairs.
The findings suggest support is strong enough to secure most voters in a referendum to amend the Constitution.
‘From the Heart’ Director Dean Parkin told Joe Hildebrand the body will radically improve efforts to close the gap.
“It’s about bringing people from the ground, getting their voices and bringing them to the table to inform better decision making,” he said.
“Something that we all want is better value for taxpayers’ spend.”
