Dick Smith weighs in as Earth’s population hits 8 billion people
The world’s population has hit eight billion people.
It took roughly 300 thousand years before one-billion humans populated the Earth in 1804, but it’s taken just 12 years to go from seven to eight billion people.
Modelling from the UN released earlier this year names November 15th as the day the world reaches eight billion.
Earth is forecast to hit nine billion by 2037.
Australian entrepreneur Dick Smith told Ben Fordham there needs to be a “population plan” in Australia.
“The billionaires just want more and more people, the greed is unlimited.”

Demographer at McCrindle Speakers Ashley Fell told Deborah Knight the population milestone has been reached by massive growth from developing nations.
“As we look to the future, Africa is going to overcome Asia to become the fastest growing continent.
“India has overtaken China as becoming the fastest growing country in that part of the world.”
