‘Do a bit of homework’: Alan Jones’ message to former Wallabies star attacking Israel Folau
Alan Jones has taken aim at a former Wallabies star who has been repeatedly attacking Israel Folau online.
Drew Mitchell played 70 Tests for Australia before retiring in 2017 and has now turned his back on Folau.
In his only interview since being sacked by Rugby Australia, Folau told Alan Jones he was “shocked” at his former teammates’ response.
Now Alan Jones has slammed the “disgraceful comments… bred by ignorance”.
“This is not a freedom of speech or freedom of religion matter but a contractual matter, according to Drew Mitchell, who played with Israel.
“Presumably he has seen Israel’s contract? If not, it would be in his best interests to do a bit of homework.
“I wonder, has he read Rugby’s Code of Conduct? I have.”
YOU are in a fight that YOU chose to be in after YOU broke the terms of YOUR contract, the kids below are in a fight they NEVER wanted to be in & yet YOU think YOU deserve donations more than they do??!!
It’s no longer about religion, it’s about YOU and YOUR greed.@IzzyFolau 🤦🏼♂️ pic.twitter.com/mdywzaw1ha

Alan Jones says this isn’t about whether you agree with Folau’s religious beliefs but whether you agree with everybody’s right to express their religious beliefs.
“People ought to be free to disagree with Israel. But they also should be free to support him and contribute to his cause.
“This is a battle that goes beyond Israel Folau. It is a battle for the very freedoms at the heart of our democracy.”
