‘Doesn’t pass the pub test!’: Jim Wilson questions NBN pay bumps

Jim Wilson is questioning the NBN’s decision to scrap performance bonuses for its staff.

The NBN is now scrapping performance bonuses for their staff after recent public backlash but will now instead increase the fixed pay rate.

NBN confirmed the news after a recent review found that most positions at government business enterprises “should not be eligible to earn a performance bonus”.

The change is expected to be reviewed by the Albanese government as the move will add millions of dollars to the government-owned company’s permanent wage bill.

Jim isn’t a fan.

“So the bonuses are scrapped but hey as a consolation we’re giving you a pay rise, tell me if I’m missing something here because again in my world that simply doesn’t pass the pub test,” he said.

“Some salaries have gone up by as much as 50 thousand dollars a year, who are they kidding to think this is okay, especially in the current economic crisis.

“There’s no doubt the fat cat bureaucrats including middle and senior management are lining their pockets thanks to you and me.

“The days of fat cat bureaucrats cashing in at our expense needs to end now!”

Federal Communications Minister Michelle Rowland is concerned with the NBN pay raise especially “with the current cost of living and inflation”.

Minister Rowland told Jim Wilson an investigation needs to be coordinated.

“We are determined to clean this up … and address the unfairness.”
