Federal Senator and retired Major-General Jim Molan says he’s concerned about President Donald Trump’s decision to remove US forces from Syria.

The decision has received widespread backlash but the Whitehouse says President Trump has not changed his position on the matter.

But Mr Trump’s national security adviser has revealed there is no timeline for the withdrawal and outlined conditions that would need to be met first.

Senator Molan tells Steve Price he’s worried about the announcement and how it’s been handled since.

“The world has come out and questioned it and it doesn’t seem to be working for US interests.

“By all means destroy Islamic State but then you’ve got to create, in those vacuum areas, some kind of mechanism which prevents Islamic State, or the next version of Islamist extremism, reappearing.”
