Drugs destroying our Defence Force personnel

Veteran support groups believe the Defence Force needs to do more to help soldiers with drug addiction.

Documents obtained by News Corp show 133 soldiers have tested positive to illegal drugs since July last year.

28 officers have been discharged and 87 are under investigation.

Veterans 360 CEO Jay Devereux tells Ray Hadley drug use is often brought on by mental health issues.

“I understand they can’t put terribly much into recovery once it reaches a point.

“Certainly, the Department of  Veterans Affairs do pick up the gauntlet after that.

“And, as I say, we work very closely with them under our contract to make sure these veterans are given the very best chance at recovery.”
