Education Minister confirms customised plan for regional schools to reopen
NSW Education Minister Sarah Mitchell has addressed the concerns of parents in the wake of the government’s back-to-school roadmap announcement.
The October 25 return date sparked confusion in the regions, which are due to exit lockdown on Friday September 10.
“If we have easing of restrictions in any of our regional communities in a few weeks’ time … then those students will be able to go back to school more quickly than this roadmap indicates,” the Minister confirmed to Jim Wilson.
“We’ve really got all bases covered.”
Parents shouldn’t be worried about their kids being unable to travel to schools outside their LGA or the 5km radius, she stressed.
“We will make sure that the public health orders and the settings reflect what they need to, to enable children to go back to school.”
