‘Enormous pent-up demand’: Queensland tourism welcomes border opening
Queensland tourism is optimistic about the Premier’s pledge to reopen the border in December, regardless of the vaccination rate.
The state is expected to hit 80 per cent double vaccinations by December 17, at which point fully-vaccinated domestic travellers can enter Queensland from a hotspot without quarantining as long as they return a negative COVID-19 test in the 72 hours prior.
Queensland Tourism Industry Council CEO Daniel Gschwind told Ben Fordham the opening is quite close to Christmas.
“At least we have a date now.
“We know there is enormous pent-up demand and I tell you we can’t wait to see you up here for Christmas and beyond.”
