EPA slammed for ‘ludicrous’ waste plan that could send small businesses broke
The Environment Protection Authority is in the spotlight as pressure continues over a plan that would see the price of waste disposal rise significantly.
The EPA wants to launch a testing crackdown on a growing number of chemicals that are ending up in recycling.
As a result, one skip bin owner said, “the cost of a 3 cubic metre container will go from $440 to $2,100”.
Shadow minister for small business Steve Kamper told Ben Fordham the move doesn’t make sense.
“It’s ludicrous.”
The waste industry met with the EPA amid concerns the move would cripple businesses.
Skip bin company owners Jillian told Ben “the meeting was really constructive”.
