Eric Bana ‘thrilled’ to receive unexpected Queen’s Birthday Honour
Australian actor Eric Bana says he was shocked to discover he would be included on this year’s Queen’s Birthday Honours List.
The list, which honours nearly 1000 Australians who have made a significant contribution to the community, includes people from all walks of life, from former politicians to sportspeople.
One of Australia’s most recognisable actors, Eric Bana, was awarded the honour for significant service to the performing arts and charitable organisations over his 25-year career.
He’s long been involved in charity work, having been an ambassador for Father Chris Riley’s Youth Off The Streets since 2004.
He tells Luke Grant he was very surprised when he was told he’d be receiving the award.
“As it’s something that I haven’t really ever thought about or aspired to, I must say it’s an amazing feeling.
“I’m just really thrilled to receive the honour.
“I think quite often in the acting world a lot of it’s very personal and selfish and this sort of feels more like something that’s for the whole family.”
Luke also chats to Eric about his recent hit series Dirty John and his upcoming projects.
