2GB’s Ray Hadley has revealed babies’ lives are being put at risk by budget cuts at The Children’s Hospital at Westmead.

Whistleblowers claim in the last quarter, there’s been a 50 per cent cancellation rate of surgeries in the neonatal intensive care unit.

Today alone, two babies have reportedly had their surgery cancelled.

After revealing the claims on-air listener Cameron called in confirming the story.

“We had a baby girl born in May this year. Born with the DiGeorge syndrome.

“Obviously had a few heart dramas and we spent about six weeks in Westmead waiting for an ICU bed so she could have the heart operation that she needed, and got cancelled eight or nine times.”

Staff within the hospital are at their wits end, saying there are beds available, but no funding.
