EXCLUSIVE | Dragons boss confirms Shane Flanagan in the mix to be next Head Coach
St George Illawarra CEO Ryan Webb has confirmed Shane Flanagan is in the running to be the next Head Coach of the club, after the Dragons missed out on Jason Ryles.
It was a horror week for the Red V with Ryles rejecting a lucrative, long-term deal to join the club he once played for, to instead take up a role to return to the Melbourne Storm.
If that wasn’t enough, a major sponsor of the club – St George Bank – is parting ways with the Dragons.
Webb toldĀ The Continuous Call Team they’re working through a process to lock in their new coach.
“All the candidates that remain now, we’ll pick them back up,” Webb said.
“There isn’t anyone that’s excluded so resistance in particular to Shane and Shane who I’ve worked with myself and got along with really well and have a lot of respect for, he’s a name in that group but it’s one of a few.”
Webb also said he believes he’s the man to take the club forward.
Flanagan is also a member of The Continuous Call Team and an Assistant Coach at the Manly Sea Eagles.
