EXCLUSIVE | Liberal MP Craig Kelly confirms he voted for Peter Dutton in leadership spill
Liberal MP Craig Kelly has officially confirmed he voted for Peter Dutton in today’s leadership spill.
The Prime Minister narrowly held on to the top job today, after Mr Dutton fell just seven votes shy of securing the leadership.
Mr Dutton has since resigned from his position as Home Affairs Minister and has joined the backbench.
He has not ruled out launching a second challenge against Prime Minister Malcolm Turnbull.
Mr Kelly was slow to come clean about his vote, repeatedly dodging Ben Fordham’s questions about where his allegiance stood.
The Member for Hughes initially told Ben “what happens in Vegas stays in Vegas” but has since revealed he voted against the Prime Minister.
“Today, Ben, my support was with Peter Dutton.
“That’s done and dusted that’s behind us and now I have to get in behind and support the government.”
