Ray Warren joined Jim Wilson after he announced his retirement from calling live sport after 55 years. 

He told Jim it was a tough decision.

“It has been coming, probably four or five years where I would walk away from a grand final and think maybe that is it,” he said.

“I came away from last years grand final thinking that was enough, I did it from the studio which was a nerve racking experience for me

“I asked Channel Nine if they could take me off the commentary roster for the first half of the season this year … I just wanted to feel what it was like to be a viewer and not a commentator … I am handling that okay.”
