Family and Community Services denies move on order to homeless charities, one organisation pushes back
Homeless charities claim they’ve been told by the state government to move on from Sydney’s Central Station.
Family and Community Services has denied they’ve been turning away food trucks and charitable services who help those sleeping rough, saying they want to spread out their distribution across the city.
But Founder of the Will2Live charity Will Hawes has told Chris Kenny that isn’t true.
“We had a secret meeting with them last year… behind closed doors.
“They were trying to get us to stop going there so, in turn, the homeless wouldn’t go there.”
Today, The Daily Telegraph revealed displaced Australians are being told to leave the bustling train station, forced to sleep on trains travelling from Sydney to Newcastle to keep warm and dry.
