‘Family survival’: The organisation seeking to assist cancer-impacted families
Redkite CEO, Monique Keighery has delved into the cost of living crisis impacting families affected by cancer.
This comes as 50 per cent of families with a child diagnosed with cancer quit working to care for their child, and over 40 per cent must live near the hospital for treatment.
Keighery explained that Redkite is actively seeking government funding in an attempt to address the issue.
“These families are facing the toughest time of their lives, they’re in crisis, their child’s been diagnosed with cancer, they can’t work, but the bills keep coming in”, she said.
“Medical survival is not enough. Its family survival and the non-medical impacts of cancer need to be talked about”.
