First box of cherries go under the hammer at Sydney Markets

The season’s first box of cherries has gone under the hammer at the Sydney Markets at Flemington, to raise money for the Save our Sons Foundation.
The cherries fetched $30,000 last year, and this time around they beat that figure with the first box going for $31,000.
Auction ambassador Rosa Arcella Chris Smith it’s all for a good cause.
“It’s a celebration all our summers fruits coming into season.
“It’s a time for our industry to get together and raise funds for Save Our Sons.
“And most importantly, we want to encourage everyone to eat more fresh fruit and veggies.”
