Indigenous Australians are asset-rich but remain cash poor according to the Vice President (First Nations) at the Australian National University as experts look towards the importance of Indigenous wealth creation.

Professor Peter Yu says investment from the government is still important but points out the missing piece is a comprehensive economic framework as Indigenous communities gain significant land assets.

“We need to look at how do we activate those assets and become involved in the local, regional and national economy,” he told Michael McLaren.
