Five people have now died after their helicopter crashed into New York City’s East River.

Two died on the scene, while three who were taken to hospital in a critical condition did not survive.

The pilot, and only survivor, managed to free himself and escape.

The chopper had been hired out for a private photo shoot when, in a mayday call, the pilot reportedly said it was experiencing engine failure.
