The Chair of a western Sydney Football Association has taken a stance against violence at junior soccer games.

Blacktown District Soccer Football Association Chairman sent out an email to its 24 clubs, with more than 9500 members, urging them to take a stand against violence at their soccer games.

The St George Football Association has repeatedly needed police to intervene in violent and abusive incidents, including at an under 7s game this month.

Arncliffe Aurora is the team at the centre of dozens of complaints Ray Hadley has since received. The team has only been back in the St George competition for a year after serving a three-year suspension.

Blacktown District Soccer Football Association Chairman Bill Owen tells Ray they are sending a message of ‘zero tolerance’ to their clubs.

“It’s not a good look.

“They’re isolated incidents but if you don’t nip them in the bud they get out of hand.

“Whether you’re a volunteer, a spectator, you’ve got an obligation to uphold good behaviour.”

Ray says the St George Football Association Chair Angelo Bonura should follow Mr Owen’s lead.

“That’s how you get it done.”
