Foreign Minister condemns Taliban official’s ‘repugnant’ slur on Australian soldiers
There’s been an outcry after a Taliban spokesman told 9News Australian soldiers “died in vain” while serving in Afghanistan.
Foreign Minister Marise Payne told Jim Wilson she finds the official’s comment “repugnant”.
“I find those sorts of statements, which are dismissive of the contribution that Australia … and the international community has endeavoured to make in Afghanistan over so many years, deeply disappointing.
“We will ultimately judge the Taliban … on their actions, not just their words.”
