Former Foreign Minister Alexander Downer warns that China “wants anyone but the Liberals” to win the election. 

Mr Downer told Jim Wilson previous confrontations with the current government will factor in China supporting Labor.

“China will have been very taken aback by the resolute response by the government,” he said.

“A change would be as good as a rest for the Chinese government.”
