The state’s former roads minister says removing warning signs at mobile speed camera sites was the wrong move.

The controversial government policy is the subject of an inquiry after revenue for fines in some months increased tenfold.

Former NSW roads minister Duncan Gay told Ben Fordham he thinks the changes were wrong.

“The way it was before was a better and fairer way.

“I think it’s better to be able to tell someone that they’ve either passed the speed camera and been got or if they’re really close that they’ve got time to slow down.”
