Anyone looking to return unwanted Christmas gift is urged to check their rights on the consumer watchdog’s website.

CHOICE’s Erin Turner told John Stanley it can be more difficult with online purchases but a declaration that “all sales are final” isn’t 100 per cent accurate.

“Retailers often have really clear rules, particularly online retailers,” she said. “It pays to just know what the rules are!”
