Government backflip on refusal to offer job security for cleaners
School cleaners have had a win, with the government announcing it will extend job guarantees to all permanent cleaners employed under government facilities.
Last year Chris Smith spoke to NSW Services Minister Victor Dominello regarding the job security of school cleaners.
In the interview, Mr Dominello refused to promise 7,000 cleaners jobs after new contracts were negotiated.
Chris speaks with Mel Gatfield from United Voice Union.
“It’s fantastic. Cleaners are ecstatic today.
“We’ve had a great win, we’ve locked in a jobs guarantee for every cleaner and they’ve also been guaranteed their hours.
“I was just so glad they made this decision.”
