An infectious diseases expert has echoed immunologist Professor Graeme Stewart’s message stressing the safety of COVID-19 vaccines for all Australians.

GPs across the state have been left frustrated by the number of patients requesting vaccine exemptions on the basis of self-diagnosed conditions.

University of Sydney infectious diseases paediatrician Professor Robert Booy outlined the vaccine ingredients, which carry an allergy risk, telling Mark Levy less than 1 in 1000 people are affected.

“It’s really important that GPs hold the line, and they recognise the very few exemptions that are important.”
