Former Australian Test cricketer Greg Matthews has slammed the selection of Ashton Agar in the recently-named Australia Test squad.

Mo told Macquarie Cricket he was surprised the 24-year-old Victorian was added to the squad – who are currently in action at the SCG – despite playing just one first-class game this season.

He said young leg spinner Mitchell Swepson would be a better option for the Test team moving forward.

“I couldn’t work out the selection,” he said.
