Groundbreaking prostate surgery to change lives of Australian men

Prostate cancer isn’t the only prostate issue impacting Australian men.
Enlarged prostates also cause significant problems, with symptoms including difficulty urinating and a frequent need to go to the toilet.
A groundbreaking operation for men with enlarged prostates, known as Rezum, is now being trialled in Australia.
Urological surgeon, Professor Henry Woo, tells Alan Jones more.
“It’s certainly a new treatment that’s really going to appeal to Australian men.
“Traditional treatment has essentially involved physically removing the tissue…to relieve the obstruction.”
The surgery will allow patients to resume physical activity 48 hours post-surgery, however, it can take up to a few months for normal urinary patterns to resume.
