Voters are being assured the federal government will provide more information about an Indigenous Voice to Parliament.

Labor has promised a poll on the body next year. The Nationals are opposing the Voice, saying there’s not enough detail.

Institute of Public Affairs deputy executive director Daniel Wild told Luke Grant it’s more than fair to have a debate around a sensitive issue with receiving criticism.

“As a nation, we need to have a debate about this. Australians get to have their say more than any other country.

“I’m concerned the federal government is trying to railroad Australians and shut down debate.”
