‘He got this one wrong’: Top cop criticises magistrate amid manhunt for Mostafa Baluch
NSW Police Commissioner Mick Fuller has criticised the judge who granted an alleged drug kingpin bail as the police manhunt enters its fourth day.
Mostafa Baluch allegedly cut his ankle monitor after being granted bail just three days earlier while facing a life sentence on drug importation charges.
NSW Police are investigating reports Baluch is headed to Victoria after seizing a black Range Rover that he was spotted travelling in.
But Mr Fuller told Ben Fordham while all possibilities are on the table, the police don’t believe he boarded a private jet out of Bankstown.
The Commissioner says the magistrate “got this one wrong” when granting Baluch bail, with a $4 million surety.
“We can’t underestimate his ability to evade law enforcement.
“The cost of this investigation, not just arresting him but also finding him, will well exceed $4 million I’ll tell you that.”
