Health Minister Mark Butler has clarified the RAT subsidy that would be scrapped by the government on July 31 is false.

RATs that have been free for the elderly with disabilities and concession cards since January were set to scrapped.

The Health Minister told Chris Smith there are different arrangments state by state, but individuals can still get a free PCR or RAT test.

Prime Minister Anthony Albanese says it’s the timeline set by the former government.

“That will not change after the end of July,” he said.

“People are trying to frighten people that they are not going to be able to get tested free of charge… that is complete rubbish, it will continue right on.”
