Health Minister Greg Hunt admits he was surprised Novak Djokovic had been granted a medical exemption.

Djokovic’s visa to enter Australia has been cancelled by the federal government after his team reportedly applied for a sub-class of visa that does not apply to people who have received medical exemptions from the COVID-19 vaccine.

Mr Hunt told Mark Levy he was surprised the exemption was granted, given the Victorian Government’s tough stance.

“I hadn’t realised that was going through the works.

“The principle here is a clear set of rules that apply and nobody is above the rules.”
