Water Minister speechless after being told PM will NOT fund Warragamba project
The Water Minister has been left speechless after Ben Fordham revealed the Prime Minister will not fund the raising of the Warragamba Dam.
Water Minister Kevin Anderson says about $1.6 billion is needed to raise the wall – a cost that needs to be split with the federal government.
But Ben has revealed the federal government is not going to fund the project.
The news caught the Minister off guard.
Ben Fordham also revealed that Premier Dominic Perrottet had not raised the dam project with the Prime Minister- a week after it was declared a “critical infrastructure project.”
That’s despite two face-to-face meetings this week. The business case is also yet to be finalised – 6 years after the project was announced.
Further on the dam, a Freedom of Information request has revealed the contents of a letter from Sydney Water to the Department of Planning.
Sydney Water advises a raised dam will “increase the chances of failure to water supply and the need to boil water”.
