The White House has confirmed that President Joe Biden has cancelled his upcoming visit to Australia, due to the ongoing debt ceiling negotiations in Washington.

President Biden spoke to Prime Minister Anthony Albanese earlier today to postpone his visit to Australia, due to his “negotiations with the US Congress over the debt ceilings”.

“The President agreed that we will reschedule his visit at the earliest opportunity,” Anthony Albanese has said.

Donald Trump will visit Australia later this year in July, stopping in Sydney, Melbourne and Brisbane, which puts Biden in a difficult position.
