It appears the Prime Minister might be heading to Alice Springs today, to discuss rising crime rates in the region.

“He’s buckled to the pressure,” Ben said.

Some leaders have been asking for alcohol bans to be re-instated in response.

The Northern Territory’s Chief Minister has ruled that out, calling it a ‘race-based’ intervention.

Alice Springs Mayor Matt Paterson told Ben Fordham, they’d welcome anything which brings positive change to the community.

Sky News Reporter Matt Cunningham is on the grounds in Alice Springs.

He told Ray Hadley the reality of the situation is “confronting”.

“It’s scary, most of the older kids are getting the younger ones to do their dirty work,” he said.

“It’s sad really.”
