Historic court order against dodgy Plumbing Detectives

Article image for Historic court order against dodgy Plumbing Detectives

The Plumbing Detectives have been ordered to stop posting branded fridge magnets to households in Queensland.

The state’s Supreme Court made the order after the company was found to have ripped-off customers.

Ray Hadley has been warning his listeners since May last year about the dodgy company ripping off elderly and vulnerable customers.

As a result, the company has been banned from operating in both New South Wales and Queensland but they continued sending out advertising magnets.

Queensland Building and Construction Commission commissioner Brett Bassett tells Ray Hadley they worked with Australia Post to stop thousands more being delivered.

“We’ve seized 5000 and importantly, as you’ve said, the injunction which came through by consent yesterday prohibits Plumbing Detectives from issuing any further advertising and magnets until they are licensed.”

New South Wales Fair Trading is seeking legal advice on whether it can appeal a decision that reduced the penalty issued to Plumbing Detectives.
