Home Affairs Minister Karen Andrews is warning of the risk posed by releasing terrorists from Australia’s prison system.

The Minister will seek to increase powers for security agencies and courts to keep high-risk terrorists in prison or monitor them on release.

Minister Andrews told Ray Hadley there are 51 terrorists in Australian prisons.

“There’s another 32 [alleged terrorists] currently before the courts.

“As these people start to serve their time and come out we need to make sure that they are appropriately supervised in the community.”
