There’s one sleep to go until the State of Origin kicks off at the MCG, with two relatively new teams determined to begin a new era for their state.

Blues Assistant Coach Greg Alexander joins Chris Smith and admits he’s been nervous since he stepped into camp last Sunday.

“It’s been a while since I have been in this situation… the fact that we’ve got so many new players, we’ve got 11 that will make their debuts tomorrow.”

As a new side, the Blues will be walking into the unknown tomorrow night in Game 1, in what is the toughest arena in the Rugby League.

Alexander says there is a “nervous energy” but insists the side has “gelled well”.

While confident in the talented lineup, he says it’s a game of wait and see.

“It’s a mental game, Origin, unless you do it together the talent won’t be enough.”

Rabbitohs coach and former Maroons assistant coach Anthony Seibold is supportive of the last minute changes being made to the QLD side in his absence this year.

Michael Morgan has been put at fullback and Anthony Milford benched.

“It gives the Maroons side a lot of flexibility.”

Seibold is confident they can win the series this year, especially given the Blues are a brand new team.
