Hospitality workers seek green light to drop isolation periods
Members of the hospitality sector say they should be added to the list of workers who have extra isolation exemptions.
Some critical workers in the supply chain and at health facilities are allowed to leave quarantine if they’re classified as a close contact of a COVID-19 case so they can continue working.
Restaurant and Catering Australia CEO Wes Lambert says hospitality workers should be given the same relief to support struggling businesses.
“It’s just adding to the already-existing problem in hospitality of the workforce shortage that was in place already because the international borders have been shut.
“This is just that tipping point that has caused thousands upon thousands of hospitality businesses around the country … to close with very little notice because they just don’t have enough staff to open.”
