How increasing migration is furthering the strain on housing amid crisis
Australia has a proud history of welcoming migrants to its shores as residents which has helped sustain the economy and culture for decades. Over the last decade, the country has struggled to keep up with demand for housing as migration has risen.
The turnaround for planning and building, all while jobs remain scarce, have led to major issues in keeping up with demand in housing. Fairfield Mayor Frank Carbone joined James Willis on Drive to discuss the issue.
“You’re paying a million dollars for a block of land… you simply can’t afford it”, Carbone told Drive listeners.
