HMAS Anzac has been deployed to South-East Asia for five months, to enforce sanctions on North Korea and to strengthen relationships with our neighbours and allies.

Anzac, a 3,600-tonne warship with nearly 200 crew onboard, will participate in the annual Five Power Defence Arrangements exercise, Bersama Shield, which enhances interoperability between Australia, New Zealand, Singapore, Malaysia and the UK.

Commander David McPherson, the Commanding Officer of the HMAS Anzac (III), told Deborah Knight that the crew will commemorate Anzac Day onboard.

“We’re in Singapore for Anzac Day and we will be commencing exercises, then we will turn back for the closing ceremony,” said Commander McPherson.

“A five-month deployment is something we get used to.”
